WHAT IS A CSA?

A Community-Supported Agrictuture program is a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from the farmer who grew it. Members receive produce on a prearranged schedule for their prepaid membership fee.  Our farm offers a certain number of 'shares' available for purchase now until end of April and in return we will provide the farm's fresh seasonal bounty each week for the entire season.

HOW THE CSA BENEFITS THE FARM

PLANNING

Allows the farmer to plan his crops more efficiently knowing how many families he is growing for.

SEASON STARTUP

Provides the farm early revenue to help purchase supplies, fertilizer, equipment and staff without the need to take out loans.  The seeds members help us purchase will grow into the food for families' tables every week for half the year.

DIRECT RELATIONSHIP

Creates a direct connection between the farmer and the consumer (no middle man) allowing the farmer to cater his crops to them.

TESTIMONIALS

I have been a member of CSAs for over 15 years.. this will be my 3rd year with Sang Lee (I took last year off and just bought from the stand in Northport). What I like most about Sang Lee CSA is the wide variety-there are items that I couldn’t even get from your farmer’s market stand last year but I remember being in the CSA share. The health benefits are amazing-I have had an autoimmune disease for 32 years, but since going organic and reducing processed foods, I’ve gone from 6 medications down to 1! What you eat truly does make a difference-Hippocrates was right! Keep growing great food! Thank you farmers

“Four years ago I was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer, and as if that wasn’t enough, one year later I was also diagnosed with stage III colon cancer. When I was first diagnosed I was blessed with the advice of a co-worker and friend, Jill, who recommend that I look into changing my diet..."

You are what you eat so why not eat the best. These are some amazing veggies and I love that we can support Local Farms.

JOIN THE COMMUNITY AND LET'S GROW.

Your participation in the program helps to ensure that our farm remains a viable and vital part of our food source for our community here on the north fork of LI and beyond.  You are contributing to a lower fossil fuel imprint by eating locally.  You are supporting responsible care of our water supply as well as responsible stewardship of our soil and land.

We ask you therefore, to please pay close attention to the scheduled times. It is the CSA member's responsibility to pick up his/her share on the designated day.  We will donate all shares that are not picked up to a local food pantry.  If you are away you can request that your share be donated, or you can ask a friend or family member to pick up your share instead. In this way, we share the good food with others who may need it, enjoy it and who can also learn about this wonderful way of eating.
