Home Delivery FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you ship to?
Standard home delivery orders ship with a private courier to all of Long Island and NYC. We can also FedEx packages anywhere in the tri-state area. Beyond the tri-state area, we can FedEx packages on a case-by-case basis. Depending on the items desired (if they are shelf-stable), the time of year (temperature outside), and estimated transit time, we may be able to ship a package anywhere in the U.S. Please contact us for a custom quote if you are outside of the tri-state area.
How is my package shipped?
All packages to Long Island and NYC are delivered via overnight shipping with our private courier, SDX Shipping. All packages to outer NY, CT, and NJ are shipped with FedEx Home Delivery (1 business days). Packages outside of the tri-state area are shipped with either FedEx Home Delivery or FedEx Express, depending on the items in your order. Please contact us for a custom quote and transit estimate if you are outside of the tri-state area.
What day will my order arrive?
Most home delivery orders are received in 1-4 days from the time you place your order. We do not ship on the weekends, so all packages will arrive on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays (unless special arrangements are made). Turnaround time at the farm depends on the contents of your order. For example, if you have ordered strictly frozen soups and jarred items, the package may be shipped the day it is ordered. If you have ordered fresh vegetables and ready-to-eat salads that must be harvested or made to order, the package may take 1-3 days to process.
What time will my order arrive?
Unfortunately, there is no guaranteed window of delivery. Most packages on Long Island or in NYC arrive between 10am-4pm but can arrive as late as 8:00 on very busy days, especially around the holidays. You will receive e-mail and text notification when your package is in transit, and another e-mail notification upon delivery.
What happens if I’m not home when my package arrives?
Drivers are instructed to leave the package by your front door (or with a doorman) if you do not answer. However, if the driver does not have access to a secure location to leave the package (i.e. cannot get into your apartment building), they may use their discretion and hold the package. It is your responsibility to provide us with special instructions in the event that you are not home. During check-out, please let us know if there is a neighbor to leave the package with, or an alternate phone number to call.
Are packages refrigerated during transit?
No, the vehicles used in transit are not refrigerated. Packages are held overnight in temperature-controlled, but not refrigerated, facilities. For this reason, we pack any non-shelf-stable items with ice-packs, and any extra sensitive items (meat, dairy, or ready-to-eat foods) in special insulated pouches with ice-packs. We use our experienced discretion to determine the amount of ice packs used based on time of year and temperature.
What kind of packaging do you use?
We are committed to using eco-friendly materials to pack your order. Our 12x12x12 and smaller cardboard boxes are recyclable and made from 100% recycled materials. Any kraft paper used for wrapping glass items or void fill are made from 100% recycled materials, and any air pillows or bubble wrap used in your order are strictly reclaimed. We only use plastic where absolutely necessary (to protect or bag up any delicate vegetables).
Why isn’t shipping free?
There’s really no such thing as free shipping! Rather than raise the prices of each item in the store, we keep our shipping cost separate so you know exactly where your money is going up front. Shipping costs are based on the weight of the package as well as the distance to be shipped. We do our absolute best to keep the items priced as low as possible while charging our best and lowest estimate for shipping cost.
