INTRO TO PLANT MEDICINE

Certified Herbalist Courtney L. Hall will guide you through this hands on class where you will touch, taste, and smell several herbs we grow here at Sang Lee Farms. You will learn the culinary and medicinal uses of these herbs, as well as the process of drying and macerating these herbs for teas, oils, and tinctures. We will walk through the beautiful herb garden weather permitting.. TAKE HOME A FREE BUNCH OF HERBS AND RECIPES. Beginners welcome.

Time to get dirty! This hands-on 4-week series with certified herbalist Courtney Hall is an extension of the 6-week beginners series. We will be outdoors for each class, planting, harvesting, digging, and making medicine. As we will be working with and learning from several plants growing abundantly at Sang Lee Farms, each student will also choose one plant to study in more depth. We will focus greatly on sustainable harvesting, and intuitive medicine making. Students will also take it a step further this series, learning how to identify and treat certain ailments in one another. Here students will be paired up, and each week will spend some time practicing these new skills.
(Includes $100 materials fee; you will take home several plants, a garden box, and an abundance of plant medicine.)
BEGINNERS HERBAL STUDIES SERIES

In this 20 hour series, certified herbalist Courtney Hall and Karen Lee of Sang Lee Farms will guide you through a wholesome, joyful, and hands-on approach to living a more mindful and healthy life by means of connecting with plants as food and medicine. This series will focus heavily on self-care and the importance of sourcing, preparing, and taking the time to treat and cook oneself nourishing therapeutic remedies. You will take home teas, tinctures, oils, salves, recipes, and soups, but even more importantly you will leave knowing how to better care for yourself utilizing simple, all-natural practices that rest beneath your very feet.
CURRICULUM INCLUDES: medicinal properties of herbs, medicine making (hand-crafting your own tincture and salve), infusions and decoctions, body systems and contraindications, proper dosage application, and actions of herbs, root medicine / root veggies, medicinal mushrooms, liver health, energy and flower essence medicine, female and male reproductive health, deep immunity, eating with the seasons, cosmetic care, herbs and foods for healthy skin
EARTH IMMERSION SERIES

Join certified Herbalist and flower essence practitioner Courtney Hall as you plant yourself into earth and plant-based healing. You will meet once a month for 5 months, and conclude with a personal medicine walk at month 6. Each class will take place in the woods or on the farm and includes moderate hiking, sun exposure, and an open heart!
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Courtney L. Hall is a Certified Herbalist through the California School of Herbal Studies (500 +hr.), and a Certified Flower Essence Practitioner through Alaskan Essences. Having studied two years under a Cherokee native, and completed a traditional Lakota vision quest and sweat lodge training, she focuses heavily on Native American energetics, vibrational therapeutics, and western herbalism. She is dedicated to teaching and healing through nature, reconnecting people with spirit, and being a caretaker of this beautiful planet. Courtney has been in practice teaching, treating, and creating herbal formulas for over 8 years. You can find her teaching workshops on the farm, working with one-on-one clients developing flower essence formulas, or working on the farm at Sang Lee in Peconic or Deep Roots in Southold.
Karen Lee BS, MBA, RN
As owner of Sang Lee Farms for over 35 years I have become passionate about the food we grow, and how to enjoy vibrant health eating fresh seasonal foods. Incorporating the fresh organic vegetables from our farm into specialty prepared foods for our retail shop has only added to that knowledge and passion. My background in health care working with sick and dying patients as a registered nurse has particularly convinced me of the importance of food as the foundation of our health and well being. To educate and share this passion with others is now my focus and mission.
