In case of rain forecasted for outdoor workshops and classes, we will cancel and refund you, or you can join a future workshop and hold your credit. Cancellations of any kind are subject to 20% non-refundable charge. If you cancel within 1 week of the workshop, you can use your credit for another class, but otherwise you will be charged in full. If workshops have less than 5 people, we will email you to reschedule or refund you.
PLANT DYEING: VAT & BUNDLE DYE

Join maker Ana Burcroff in learning the how-tos of natural dyes! This workshop will be visually appealing and informative for those who are beginning, or looking to deepen their craft.
We’ll cover how to make a single color dye vat out of plants, how to bundle dye using dried and fresh plants and pigment extracts, and how to mordant. In addition, we will cover the materials and techniques needed to successfully do natural dyeing on your own, all while sipping farm fresh herbal tea!
Participants will learn how to dye a linen tea towel and a silk scarf. A detailed handout covering class topics and techniques needed for dyeing at home will also be given to participants at the classes end.

Our Community Meet-Up is imagined for families of up to five people. This community gathering is especially geared toward families who want their younger (or older!) children to experience our organic farm! We invite you and your imaginative and curious children to join our youth educators Trish & Cara for a stroll amongst the farm fields, greenhouses, and orchard!
This is a perfect late afternoon activity for you and your children to experience the tastes, smells, sounds, and feel of our certified organic farm in a whole new way. They will explore the practice of growing food while having fun outdoors, interacting with nature, and getting crafty, all alongside you!
We hope to cultivate a sense of togetherness in bringing our North Fork community (and beyond!) together for some farm fun. This meet-up will include an adventure through our fields and greenhouses, learning about and experiencing the fruiting crops, bee hives, and tractors. We also will smell, taste and forage whatever is abundant! In addition, families will enjoy crudité all while taking part in a joint art project. Come experience the farm up close!

In addition, we will cover the materials and techniques needed to successfully do ice dyeing on your own to achieve the watercolor effect that the technique is known for — all while sipping farm fresh herbal tea!

MEET THE INSTRUCTORS
Ana Burcroff is a maker, color enthusiast and small business owner.
She co-founded and operates Jamesport Coffee Roasters with her husband — you can find their cold brew and beans at the farmstand!
She has been doing a deep dive into botanical dyes with the designer of Billynou, a slow fashion and natural dye studio. Ana's color obsession began in early childhood when she insisted on wearing colors that, according to her mother, did not match.
