BARTLETT PEARS

Bartlett Pears (Pyrus communis), also called the Williams Pear, are a member of the Rosaceae family. This bell-shaped fruit is the traditional Pear shape in the West and is cultivated for its aromatic and distinctive Pear flavor. You know they’re ready to eat when they’re skin turns into a nice yellow color and the flesh gives slightly to finger pressure!

In season: Early September to late October

Nutritional value: Bartlett Pears contain vitamins C, K, as well as copper (16% your DV!) and potassium!

Storage tips: Store unripe Bartlett Pears on the counter, and once ripe, move them to your refrigerator! You can also chop and freeze them for future use in dessert recipes or to make jam!

Culinary uses: Bartlett Pears can be used for baking, poaching, making preserves, or for eating raw as a snack! Toss them into salads, add them to smoothies, bake them, grill them and more!
