CHILDRENS SUMMER WORKSHOPS

We are offering Friday children’s workshops this summer! We hope to explore, forage, craft and get our hands a lil’ dirty, all while emphasizing the importance of growing one’s own food. Have your children join us to see, smell, hear, taste and touch all that our organic farm has to offer!

Please check out our workshop offerings and information below, and then click the button beneath each workshop to register your child / children. You will be taken to a form that you must fill out, and then once that is completed a link will pop up to actually add the items to your cart and pay for the workshops you choose. Please note, you are not signed up until you have completed both the registration form, and payed in full for the workshop(s). You will get a confirmation email when this happens!

In case of rain forecasted, we will cancel and refund you, or you can join a future workshop and hold your credit. Cancellations of any kind are subject to 20% non-refundable charge. If you cancel within 1 week of the class, you can use your credit for another class, but otherwise you will be charged in full. If classes have less than 5 people, we will email you to reschedule or refund you.

Field to Fork Ages 5-7

In our Field To Fork workshop, we invite your culinary-curious children to join our youth educators Trish & Cara for a food-based class amongst the farm fields, greenhouses, and orchard!

This is a perfect late morning activity for curious children to experience the tastes, smells, sounds, and feel of our certified organic farm. They will explore the practice of growing food while having fun outdoors, interacting with nature, and getting crafty!

This workshop will start with a body and mind check-in that will set the tone for the day, bringing more joy and mindfulness into their experience on the farm and beyond! This workshop will provide the opportunity to learn about planting and caring for seedlings. Students will have a hands-on experience in planting lettuce starters to take home to enjoy for weeks to come! Students will also make their very own Sang Lee Smoothie with seasonal organic fruits and vegetables from our farm to enjoy while at the workshop. We hope to inspire our students to step out of their veggie comfort zone, and recognize the magic of growing your own food!

Meet Our Youth Educators

Trish Wescott has a deep passion for creativity, self-expression, and the joy of discovery. With a BA in photography from Southampton College, her love for art and exploring different mediums allows her to bring enthusiasm and warmth to every workshop. She always strives to create a space where kids can explore, play, and embrace their unique voices!

Inspired by the beauty and wonder of nature, she often uses the outdoors as a source of creativity. From paper making to botanical dyeing, she believes in showing kids how the world around them can spark imaginative and expressive projects.

Portraits of kids are also something she is very passionate about. Creating an experience where children look forward to getting their photo taken, in a free and expressive manner.

You can also find her at the Westhampton Farmer’s Market talking recipes to Sang Lee customers!

Cara Slotkin is a North Fork Native and humanities secondary educator with a BA from Ohio Wesleyan University, a M.Ed from the University of Maryland. She was also a prior Fulbright Education Scholar in Rwanda.

hen she's not in the classroom, running, or traveling, she spends time working at Sang Lee, in the fields or the Westhampton Beach Farmer’s Market. Whether she’s in the potato fields, sparking the culinary imaginations of kids, or slingin’ watermelons, she does it with enthusiasm!

She is passionate about spreading the joy and knowledge of locally grown organic produce. In bringing this energy into the workshops, she seeks to help kids see the fun and importance of farming (and then eating) your own vegetables.

Her favorite eats include Sang Lee’s Cherry Tomatoes and Yellow Watermelon!
