PARSLEY

Parsley (Petroselinum crispum) is an annual herb in the Umbellifer family cultivated for it’s aromatic leaves. We cultivate flat-leaf Parsley which has a stronger flavor than Curly-Leaf — making the former the preference of most chefs! Parsley is used heavily in Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and Brazilian cuisines — from garnish to salads!

In season: Year-round

Nutritional value: Parsley gives you bang for your buck — two tablespoons offer 150% DV of vitamin K, 50% DV of vitamin C and A! It is also rich in folate, iron, calcium and antioxidants such as flavonoid and carotenoids.

Storage tips: If you’re using your Parsley within a day or two, give the stems a fresh trim and immerse them in a jar of water. If you’re wanting to store your Parsley a bit longer, wrap it in a paper towel and place in a sealed container or bag — just ensure that your Parsley is completely dry before doing so! If you’re seeking long-term storage for your Parsley, simply chop it up, toss it into an ice cube tray, top off with a high quality EVOO, and freeze! Once frozen, you can pop them from the stray and store in a ziploc or container in the freezer.

Culinary uses: Parsley is more than just a garnish! Try making pesto, chimichurri, tabbouleh, or adding to bowls, soups, dressings, or marinades. We dare you to skip the salad spinner and use Parsley as your salad green… trust us!
