RASPBERRIES

Raspberries (Rubus idaeus) are a bramble fruit that are part of the Rosaceae family. Raspberry plants must be staked to control their wild growth. To establish a new planting, Raspberries are propagated from root cuttings, which take one to two years to produce! Besides your typical Ruby Raspberries, we also grow Yellow and Gold Raspberries! These varieties are yellow and blush-colored, and offer a sweeter, milder flavor compared to Red Raspberries.

In season: Mid-June to August

Nutritional value: Raspberries are rich in vitamins C, B, A, E, and K. They also contain essential minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, copper, manganese, and selenium. Raspberries, and berries in general are low on the glycemic index, making them a better fruit choice for anyone who is watching their blood sugar.

Storage tips: Only wash your Raspberries right before eating for the longest shelf life! For storage for up to a few days, you can either place unwashed, completely dry Raspberries into a clean glass jar and seal it with a lid, or place whole, unwashed berries in a single layer on a paper towel-lined plate uncovered. In addition, you can also wash, chop & freeze for future smoothies!

Culinary uses: Like most berries, Rasp berries are versatile! Enjoy them fresh, add them to smoothies, bake them into desserts, make jam, or go the savory route and add to hot sauce, salsas, salads or salad dressings!
